Position Overview: Software Engineer III, Full Stack
As a Software Engineer III at YouTube, you’ll be responsible for the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software across the full stack. You’ll work closely with product teams and peers, bringing fresh ideas from all areas, including large-scale system design, distributed computing, UI design, and AI. You’ll also manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, and have opportunities to shift between teams and projects as Google’s fast-paced business evolves.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
- 2 years of experience with full stack development, including back-end (e.g., Java, Python, GO, C++) and front-end technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Write and maintain product or system development code.
- Participate in or lead design reviews to assess available technologies and decide on solutions.
- Review code from other developers, ensuring best practices for style, testability, and efficiency.
- Contribute to documentation and educational content; update materials based on product or user feedback.
- Triage and debug product or system issues by analyzing impact on hardware, network, or service operations.
Compensation & Benefits
US Base Salary Range: $136,000 – $200,000 annually
In addition to the base salary, compensation may include a bonus, equity, and benefits. The exact salary will depend on the job location, skills, experience, and education level.
